Thrifty Thursday - June 28
This was a pretty big shopping week, which is somewhat surprising, since we got a new batch of co-op produce on Saturday. However, we bought a lot of baking products to help us with that produce, and I stocked up on lots of soup this week, as it was FINALLY on sale again after months! I was able to get free Pringles at CVS, as well as a free Dole Smoothie Shaker at Publix. Here are this week's totals:

Well, can't say that I stayed on budget this week, BUT I've been quite under for a few weeks, so it evens out (I think!). I didn't get a whole lot from Publix, but I had to get some higher priced items, like toilet paper, multivitamins, and bodywash and deodorant for Jamie. I haven't written about this before, but I feel that it IS worth mentioning that we do have a mini stockpile, with an abundance of pasta, salad dressing, popcorn, rice and toiletries. I bought lots of those when I first started couponing, and soon realized that we couldn't use them as fast as I was buying them, so we won't be buying anymore until our supply has dwindled quite a bit. "Thrifty Thursday" will be the first new feature for the blog this year. Each week, I hope to show you how I am staying within our $50 grocery/hygiene budget. This week I'm just going to do a quick rundown, with a more in-depth breakdown next week.
I didn't go to Publix this week, as they literally had nothing on sale that I wanted. Instead, I picked up a few things at Kroger:

I also stopped by CVS to pick up some hair accessories.

Since it's the beginning of the year, that means lots of retail stores have tons of sales to get rid of their merchandise from the end of the year. Thanks to gift cards and Christmas money, I decided to take advantage of some of those sales today (and not spend anything out of pocket)!

Adventures in Couponing: CVS
Today was my first try at couponing for CVS. Honestly, it was a bit confusing. Not everything that was in the ad was clearly marked in the store and some products were beside sale labels that weren't actually on sale. Because of that, I ended up having to do some refunds/exchanges, so it took a bit longer than I anticipated. However, I ended up with some pretty good deals:

The savings includes $6 in Extracare bucks, which I can use on my next CVS purchase.
